Skyline Wins Contract with Columbia County, GA

Six High Resolution 20mm Color LED Lift-face Signs Installed Throughout City of Evans

Colorado Springs, Colo., March 16, 2015 – Skyline Products announced today that they have provided arterial lift-face 20mm full color LED signs for Columbia County, GA. Six LED Variable Message Signs (VMS) have been strategically placed throughout the city alongside various highways and roads in order to help keep the drivers well informed of traffic conditions.

This project started with an approved grant to install fiber optic cable throughout Columbia County. Once the cable was installed, Georgia DOT and City of Evans started looking forward to transportation communication improvements in the area, including signal control on all main arterial streets and a new traffic management center. In this next phase, six Skyline full color 20mm arterial VMS LED lift-face signs were installed throughout the city, connected to the city’s new fiber optic links. Skyline’s signs utilize a KYNAR 500 coated aluminum mask over polycarbonate glazing for a 20mm pixel pitch that fully protects the LEDs from the environment, an industry first introduced by Skyline. Using fiber optic cable to connect the signs to the traffic control center allows a much more advanced traffic control system overall.

“The Columbia County Construction and Maintenance Services roadway enhancement project continues to advance the roadways and traffic flow across the entire county. And we’re proud to have Skyline working with us on this endeavor by providing full color signs as an added means of traffic communication to the people of Evans,” said Matt Schlachter, County Engineer, Columbia County Ga.

“Skyline’s full color LED signs are the pinnacle of messaging technology with unrivaled reliability and readability, and we are excited to work with Columbia County Traffic Engineering,” said Chip Stadjuhar, President and CEO of Skyline Products Inc. “The transportation management system advancement of Columbia County as a whole is a great opportunity for Skyline’s signs to be used to their fullest potential by providing enhanced messaging throughout the City of Evans.”
