The City of Colorado Springs Selects Skyline Products

Dynamic Message Signs to Display Traffic Conditions for Public Right-of-Ways

Colorado Springs, Colo., November 5, 2013 – Skyline Products announced today that the City of Colorado Springs ordered 35 full color DMS to be installed throughout the city, with 11 currently installed. The signs are the first to be built on a design that utilizes a KYNAR 500 coated aluminum mask over polycarbonate glazing for a 20mm pixel pitch. This design fully protects the LEDs from the environment, an industry first introduced by Skyline. The red, green, and blue LEDs in the pixels are vertically aligned to maximize the cone of legibility without any horizontal color shifting, also an industry first by Skyline. The new signs are controlled by Skyline EnvoyDMS™ Central Control Software and integrated into the city’s advanced traveler information system; accompanying the 101 Skyline LED signs already in place.

The City of Colorado Springs Transportation/Traffic Engineering Division is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians on the public right-of-ways in Colorado Springs. The installation of the new color Skyline DMS is part of the city’s goal to ensure traffic safety and efficiency by providing accurate, up-to date traffic conditions.

Skyline has been manufacturing ITS-Grade® DMS since 1971 and ITS-Grade® LED DMS signs since 1994. With over 2,200 ITS-Grade® LED DMS installed across North America, Skyline is an industry leader and considered to produce the most legible and reliable LED DMS in the industry. Products include LED DMS, Rotary Drum CMS, Scrolling Film CMS and EnvoyDMS Central Control Software. Skyline’s LED DMS are available in amber and full color with both Walk-in and Lift-face configurations. The central control software, EnvoyDMS, is an extremely robust, easy-to-use, NTCIP-compliant sign control software solution, compatible with all DMS.
